Online Critical Friends Groups (CFGs)

Purpose of This Wiki

Critical Friends Groups is a professional learning community model adopted widely in K-12 education. As the pace of our world quickens and collaboration/networking tools become more prevalent, it would seem to be a natural evolution to begin to use online technology to support CFG work. This wiki is a space for those who are interested in online CFGs to collect their knowledge, understandings, musings, questions, and tools. It is a work in progress. Initial membership consists of those who have participated in a two-year, ongoing iCFG as a way to explore how to use online environments to conduct CFGs. We welcome others to collaborate with us to develop a knowledge base for the larger educational community. If you are interested in contributing to this conversation, please just ask to join the wiki.

What You'll Find Here

As we're just beginning to put our thoughts together, honestly, you won't find much. :) Before too long, you should find the following:
  • A community of educators interested in determining best practices of online CFGs
  • Examples of online CFGs
  • Tools to help you decide how best to start and implement an online CFG
  • Discussions around various technology tools and environments and using them to host an online CFG
  • Discussions that focus on your questions around online CFGs
  • Resource lists - articles, websites, documents
  • Wonderings, musings, and adventures
  • ??? - this can be whatever we want it to be
